Making Money With Squidoo
Written by ady on March 25, 2008 – 1:41 am -I’ve been using Squidoo for a while now but normally just for link juice. When I set up a new blog I’ll spend a few hours creating a Squidoo lens and other pages at similar Web 2.0 communities all with links pointing at the new blog. These pages have always supplied plenty spiders but not much in the line of real traffic but I’ve been reading quite a few success stories regarding Squidoo so thought I’d give it a go.
So far the signs aren’t promising as far as internal Squidoo traffic goes. I got a couple of lenses into their respective categories top 10 and expected with the new layout showing the top 10 on each lens to gain quite a bit of traffic.
The small amount gained doesn’t seem to justify the effort of gaining a top 10 spot though. Not sure whether to keep up the effort and see what happens when you break into the overall top 100.
Obviously, the Lenses will be of value to me as link juice, more so than usual, having reached a high Squidoo ranking.
The problems I see with a Squidoo Lens as far as affiliate marketing goes are the amount of links available to the visitor. I haven’t got any hard figures yet but I would assume, and it looks the case so far, that your click through rate is going to be well down compared to your site or blog where your page is optimized to get the call to action and other options aren’t available to your visitor.
The Wealthy Affiliate recommends its members make 10 Squidoo Lenses each and every week and their forum is full of article marketers making good money with them but I have yet to see it.

I agree with your post. I think that having a squidoo lense helps newer sites rank a little faster by gettiing listed on search engines.
