Money Making Blog For Sale
Written by ady on July 27, 2008 – 7:17 pm -Instead of trying to build a money making blog why not just buy one that’s up and running? I must admit I’d never given any thought to buying or selling blogs for that matter so when I read that Marc Galeazzi had paid $10k for an established money making blog called OneMansGoal I was keen to see the figures.
The site was making $1000 a month when he purchased it so assuming he’s done his homework, the going rate for a money making blog must be around 10 times the monthly earnings.
OK so you’re forking out 10K but the site is already established and more importantly, its making money. All the early ground work has been done and all you have to do is write a post a day to keep it going.
OneMansGoal looks in pretty good shape. PageRank 4, 230 posts and with just over 3500, plenty of comments. The all important inbound links are showing 165 at Google and 7,226 at Yahoo so the guy who built it put in the work.
So its been built well and its making money. For anyone who either doesn’t know how or doesn’t want to do the groundwork it seems a smart move to buy a ready built money making blog. What about the seller though? Sure its a quick injection of cash to pump into other ventures perhaps but personally I wouldn’t sell, not once its reached $1000 a month anyway. Spending 20 minutes writing a new post a day and a few hours a week promoting in return for $250 a week is a great return in anyone’s money.
Also, I don’t think I would be comfortable knowing someone is benefiting to the tune of at least 12K a year from something I had spent a lot of time and energy on. On the other hand, I guess everything has its price…….

I don’t think I would ever sell a blog that I had worked so hard to establish. And that’s particularly true if it were bringing in money regularly.

I agree, keep the blog. The name of the game is residual income. Read Rich Dad Poor Dad and you will get the idea. I’d never sell something that brings in $1000 per month for an hour or two a day. Still, each to his own.
