Why Blogrush Works

Blogrush Com was something I avoided after being refused an entry soon after it opened it’s doors. I don’t know why I took offence but I did. Nowadays getting refused for an affiliate program or Blogrush like service doesn’t bother me a bit (specially the affiliate programs, if they don’t want my traffic someone sure as hell will).
Anyway, I was reading how successful Blogrush had become so decided to try again by submitting this blog which in contrast to my first attempt to get in is written by my own hands as opposed to PLR articles.
As you can see from the widget on the right, this time I was accepted so put up the widget and didn’t think much else about it until this morning when one of the titles caught my eye and I gave it a click.
The story was about a blog set up and run by one guy which he today sold for a cool $15 million (there’s a bit of inspiration for us all). The person writing the story had himself found out about it the same way as me, clicking on a Blogrush headline on his own blog.
This got me thinking about the power of Blogrush. According to Technorati an average of 1 in 5 blog readers are active bloggers themselves. Sports and finance blogs would be at the far end of that average while blogs like the one you are reading now would be a very high rate. I would guess close to 1:1 as most internet marketing blogs focus on how to increase profit or traffic (same thing) to blogs so why would you read that if you didn’t blog?
So a blogger sees your title on their own Blogrush widget and clicks through to read it. Being a blogger themselves they write a post about your story and include a link and pingback. That story gets read by 100 folk of which some will visit the source (you) of the story plus 20 (on average) are bloggers themselves and one or two will blog about the story they just read and link to that one which in turn links to you (try and keep up). The more links to the page linking to you, the more the link to you is worth.
It’s a bit like promoting your promotions (which I’ve had great success with and will be writing a post about this weekend hopefully, perhaps, maybe….. we’ll see) except someone else is doing it for you.
I can also see now why my first blog was refused by Blogrush and in a why I’m kind of glad they did because it means I trust my link is appearing on quality locations. That first attempt to get in to Blogrush was the same as all my other blogs built to promote my money pages. It was well laid out, had an on topic theme, pictures in the posts etc. In other words, it looked good but the content was PLR.
By saying no they were raising the bar and saying all the blogs built for Adsense, affiliate marketing etc. (about 95% of all blogs) just weren’t good enough.
This means the blogs your titles appear on are actually read and have a following so you get a better chance of someone clicking through to read your post.
You can sign up here. Blogrush is completely free and it’s a good way of testing the quality of your blog and if your blog is read by bloggers then you should definitely give it a try.
