Article Marketing Automation as a Bum Marketing Tool
Written by ady on October 4, 2008 – 5:34 pm -I was asked yesterday about using Article Marketing Automation as a platform for bum marketing. While I use the blog network to build links to my money pages so as to increase their search engine placings, I have made plenty of sales by using 1 of my 3 permitted links within an article to point to an affiliate program.
Using Article Marketing Automation purely to drive traffic to affiliate programs as you do with bum marketing though would mean not taking advantage of the drip system. Remember that articles submitted into Article Marketing Automation are drip fed into the system indefinitely but the program you are affiliated to might well be old hat this time next year.
They may not even be in business or if they are, they may have stopped offering an affiliate program. Unfortunate for you but great for them as you are still sending them traffic via your articles.
If your thing is bum marketing but you can see the power of having Article Marketing Automation spin your articles to make them unique every time it posts to a different blog, I would recommend you create a free Blogger blog and create a pre-sell page to point your article links to.
This means if sales slow up or the product is taken off the market at some point in the future, you can simply change your pre-sell page to promote a similar product. Blogger blogs are free so you can stay true to Travis Sago’s bum marketing teachings.
The downside is that the blog is not yours and Blogger could at a whim, take it down. As a safety net I would buy a domain name (less than $10 a year) and use that to point at your Blogger blog. If Blogger did close your blog down at some point in the future, you can just set up an alternative and point your domain name at that.
Because your articles are drip fed indefinitely and if you have taken advantage of the article spinning system, Article Marketing Automation should be looked on as long term bum marketing. Typical bum marketing sees a surge in traffic once your article lands at ezinearticles and the like but using AMA would see your traffic climb daily for months, even years to come.
If you signed up today and submitted an article you have 1 in the system which gets published to a blog. If you write another tomorrow you have 3 different articles on 3 different blogs: the 1 that was posted yesterday, a new spun version of the one from yesterday plus the one you just submitted. After 6 days you have 28 articles with 3 links in each.
Next week, if you didn’t submit any more articles, you would still be getting around 70 unique articles published (it would actually be more as your articles are drip fed into the system a couple of times a day, not just once).
Now the thing to take note of here is “unique.”
- Google will not list the same article twice in its results.
- Google will only show 1 result per domain.
Because Article Marketing Automation makes each of your articles different and each is posted on a different blog as opposed to the same old article directories, you have the potential to dominate the Google results for your keywords because all your articles can compete for those top spots.
Let’s say you want to own “this keyword phrase”
Writing several articles and submitting to ezinearticles for instance, will still only get you 1 place in the search results. You could have 10 different articles in ezinearticles all targeting “this keyword phrase” but they will only show 1 result from the domain ezinearticles.com
Also, because they want to give their users a quality result they won’t knowingly show the same article twice in their results.
Using Article Marketing Automation avoids both these problems. Each article is different and each article is on a different domain making it possible to have more than 1 of your articles in the results and so dominating your chosen keyword.
