Make Money With Adwords
Written by ady on February 25, 2009 – 2:16 pm -Regular readers will know I used to make money with Adwords, quite a lot of money. Up until 18 months a go I was spending approx. $300 a day for a return of around $1800.
I was using misspellings of certain brand names and with very little competiton from other Adwords users I was making a killing. Then Ad spy tools started to appear and others were finding my keywords and started bidding on them.
Profit margins slipped as I had to spend more to make less and before long it wasn’t worth the hassle as I had to monitor my Adwords account carefully or I could have days where I might even spend more than I could make.
I soon decided that to make money with Adwords (serious money) in the current climate required large advertising budgets, ie. spend $2000 a day to make a thousand and that wasn’t for me so I put my efforts back into making money online via other methods.
Google Adwords recently introduced ’site placement targeting’ where you get to select any websites making money with Adsense to carry your Adword ads. This was enough to tempt me back to run some tests and while the benefits were obvious, finding suitable sites was a long winded affair.
The Kahuna guys have just released a new free tool that finds suitable sites for you, making the whole process much easier and quicker. I’ve been playing around with Adwords Digger over the last couple of days and its a very handy little tool. Type in your keyword and select how many results to check, top 10, 20 100 etc. and set it running.
It gets the results from Google, visits each site to see if it has Adsense ads running, then checks its traffic stats at Alexa to make sure its worth advertising on. Once its done just select the urls of the sites you want and save as a text file. Copy and paste that file into your Adwords site placement targeting list and your Adwords ads will start showing on those sites.
Select the right sites and you can see just how powerful Adwords Digger really is. The cost per click is relative to using the content network except it is much more targeted. More targeted traffic means better conversion rates.
Result is less cost per click and less clicks needed per sale.
